My wife and I agreed that this was our best vacation ever. We stayed on the Level and our Loft Suite was perfect. The ease of our arrival set the tone for a wonderful week. The Bali Beds are the way to enjoy poolside! The staff and service far exceeded our expectations. Great job! We will return.
Thank you again! Matt Peterson

We have been going to Cancun since 1982 and this was absolutely the best trip yet. We love the ME and especially the Beachhouse...It is our favorite. The staff is wonderful and we came back home so relaxed and miss being there. We will definitely be back next year and thank you for the most awesome vacation yet.

Had a wonderful time at the hotel. Great place, great people and great service.
We spent a lot of time at the Infinity pool, service was exceptional and attentive.
We loved the level suite.
We will be back! Thank you.

Our second annual December stay at the ME was even better than last year. Several bachelors in separate rooms down for a week of unwinding in the sun, grown-ups-only style. We booked early and received an upgrade to the Level, and the rooms were great: sitting area with sofa, small dining table, three full closets with nice cabinetry. Very attentive and friendly staff, and fresh towels in the room all the time. Really a nice experience. And the included continental breakfast was more than sufficient and more than the name implies. We were there a week and visited several other top hotels to compare. After doing so, we were satisfied that for our intents and purposes, the ME was the best fit and the best value. Others were bigger, grander, and most had more conventional luxury decor; but none were as stylish or well detailed as the ME in my view.

My husband, I and 4 other friends stayed at the ME Cancun in March 07. It was great, the music, the service everything was fantastic. If we are traveling where there is a ME we only stay there.

The hotel staff was great in every way. Hotel was very clean and modern including the rooms. The hotel definitely had AC as it was humid in September 2007. My fiance left her favorite pair of slippers and they found it. They gave it to a buddy of mine that was still at the hotel. Very courteous, friendly, and helpful.

From the atmosphere music in the lobby to the teppan bar pillows underfoot, this experience was beyond expression. Even the phone has an anything is possible button. We took the experience home with us by requesting a CD of the hotel music track...they delivered! Beyond expectation!
My husband and I travel to Mexico 2-3 times a year We like Cancun…
My husband and I travel to Mexico 2-3 times a year. We like Cancun not only for the wonderful beaches and the gracious people who work there but also because it is so quick and easy for us to get to....non stop from Philadelphia and quick taxi ride from the airport. We want to spend as much time as possible enjoying our vacation, not traveling. Usually we book an all inclusive but the ME Cancun seemed new and interesting, had rooms available and they were running a Grand Opening Promotion so we gave it a try. All I can say is WOW!
The hotel is beautiful. It was designed around an artists vision of a love story that he tells thru his art work, sculptures, textures, music, lighting and fantastic views of the ocean and pools. It is all about relaxation and the reawakening of your senses. We loved our room, wonderful ocean view, really comfortable bed, incredible "rain forest "shower, plasma tv and sound system. Huge towels, Aveda skin care products, minibar and safe. The people who work there could not be any friendlier or helpful...their motto is that it is "all about you" and it really is.
Even the lobby is filled with comfortable lounges, piped in music and books laid out for you to enjoy. If you have to work while there, as we did, they have a great computer lounge (10 computers or so) which is free and located next to the coffee bar where you can get all kinds of coffee and juices.
There was never a wait to get on line. The spa was fantastic as well. I had a pedicure and it was wonderful. They also have a fully equipt gym and steam rooms/sauna.
As far as the food, we ate out quite a few nights but had 2 wonderful meals in the outdoor restaraunt there at the hotel. The ambiance was fantastic, with the wind from the ocean, the music and the swaying wicker lights. The tuna rocked!
The beach location was perfect. We have stayed in many hotels that are still rebuilding the beach from the past hurricanes. Not so here! The beach was perfect. There was construction going on at the building next to the hotel but to be honest, we never heard it. It was very unobtrusive! On the beach, we enjoyed the comfortable chairs, waiter service, music and the large beach beds to lie on as well as the palapas. Around the pool they have cabana's with comfortable pillows and butler like service for when you have had too much sun or want some private time. If are looking for a resort with a lot of pool activites, this is not the place for you. There are NONE. If you are in need of the ultimate relaxation experience and to really be connected with the person you are with. then you have found the right place. Aslo, there is no dancing/nightlife there. They do have a wonderful lounge which is lit with a million candles every night for you to unwind and have a cocktail. Drinks are expensive but not any more than the Marriott or other hotels in the area. The location of the hotel is perfect if you do want to get out. Within walking distance to the mall, Margaritaville, Pat o'brians, etc. The bus is right there as well to take you anywhere else you want to go. I absolutely loved this place and can't wait to go back again!
My boyfriend and I traveled from Milwaukee WI USA to ME Cancun…
My boyfriend and I traveled from Milwaukee, WI (USA) to ME Cancun on Feb 16-23 and had an incredible/romantic experience. I also read many of the reviews before I left for this trip, but found that some people may be too picky and/or have no experience traveling to Mexico. This is my third trip to Cancun, so I am familiar with the area. Here is a snapshot of the experience we had at ME Cancun.
Arrival:
We booked our reservations directly online at Sol Meliá a week prior to departure. When we arrived at the hotel the front desk attendant did not have our reservation, but I had our confirmation print out in hand. Yes, I initially was frustrated and concerned about the resort. However, the hotel got us the room we requested and made every attempt to accommodate us. From my experience, the front desk is very slow in terms of service, but pleasant and accommodating. Some guests complained about waiting 30 minutes to check in. I would guess the hotel knows this as a challenge and is working on speeding up the process.
Hotel:
In one sentence I describe this hotel as sleek, modern, Feng Shui design, immaculate, and relaxing. This hotel is unlike most hotels in Cancun, Mexico where the hotel design represents the Mexican culture verses up to date design. The location is situated nicely a block from Isla Mall (shops, restaurants, and markets).
Rooms:
When we walked into our room on the 8th floor it was exactly like the pictures on the website and on Trip Advisor. The room was modern, bold colors and sleek design. The beds were comfortable and had duvet covers. The bathroom was updated with Kohler design type shower and sink and Aveda products. There was a well stocked mini bar and bottled water. There was a large flat panel television and Philips CD/Radio player for your entertainment needs. The only complaint is the walls are very thin and if you have loud neighbors this could be a problem. We also left a few USD dollars and a note in Spanish for the maids every few days. The maids kept our room extra clean and we had no trouble with our belongings. I highly recommend using the in room safe for electronics (Ipods, cameras, etc.), passports, currency, and any expensive personal items.
Restaurants:
There are technically only two restaurants on site, but they claim they have four. There is an internet cafe that has coffee, mixed drinks, and bakery goods. Excellent coffee! You can also check your email on one of their six computers. The other restaurants are Silk and Salt. In the morning you can enjoy an average buffet breakfast for $22 USD per person. At night the restaurant serves Japanese and American (steaks) ($15-$35 USD per entre), we looked at the menu, but did not dine. We chose to venture off the resort for our meals. The Maxim beach grill is excellent and priced around $7-$12 USD for appetizers, burgers, wraps (Steak wrap is the best and can be shared with another person), chips/salsa, etc. As far as the cocktails they are good, but not too strong. The bar has rail to top shelf liquor. I had a Grey Goose and Tonic, which was $12 USD, Bacardi Mango Daiquiri $12 USD, and Corona in a can $4 USD. The drink prices range from $4-$12 USD, depending on what you order. If you order from the beach staff, keep in mind it may take awhile, service is slow paced. You may want to go up to the bar and order yourself to save time. The Rose Bar is situated by the lobby and has excellent martinis $10-$15 USD. This is a great bar to go to at night before dinner or for an after dinner drink. There is soft music playing, candles illuminate the space, the ambience is inviting and romantic.
Beach:
The beach is beautiful with crisp white, soft, warm sand. The beach is well kept and the sea blue ocean is clear as turquoise. The white beds on the beach are the best to lie out on and the chairs are comfortable as well. We had no problems finding a spot every day to lie out and relax on the beach. There is also a deejay playing techno and electric style music outside by the pool and beach areas, which adds to the ambience.
Pool:
The pools are well kept and I could not smell chorine. The pool area is more for the families, but still quiet. There is a swim up pool let's you cool off from tanning and being in the sun. The adult pools are a bit cold, but refreshing.
Restaurant Suggestions:
La Isla Mall Try the La Madonna Italian restaurant excellent, but pricey. We had filets, side dishes and a bottle of wine ($100 USD), so worth it! Ruth Chris' Steak house is another staple restaurant to dine at and again excellent food and service. There is a Starbucks, Chili's, McDonald's, etc in the mall.
Water:
I would walk to the mall and purchase your bottled water, gatorade, and snacks from the market (save you money).
Meals:
We chose to grab coffee and banana bread from the internet cafe ($5 USD), eat at the beach grill during the day and go out for a nice dinner at night to save on money. Since the resort is not all-inclusive it can add up quickly. We spent around $150-$200 USD per day on drinks and meals. Some mornings we did eat at the buffet, which tied us over until dinner.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for couples, families, and friends who want to relax, enjoy the incredible weather, and forget about reality. This hotel does not cater to the Spring Breakers that want to party, but to a higher clientele. ME Cancun staff do their best to meet any request you have and strive to provide excellent customer service. The hotel is fairly new, so certain issues are still being worked out, but ME Cancun is a hot spot not to miss.

We arrived around 11pm, so checkin area was not busy at all. Took about 5 min. We booked with Funjet, so we had the Deluxe garden view room. I asked for any available upgrades, and after checking, was told sorry-no ocean view rooms. That's quite OK, we still got what we paid for. But it doesn't hurt to ask, right? The lobby is very stunning when you walk in, and you will notice a subtle scent thruout the public areas. Nice touch. Just lots of interesting art to look at. Even some kind of private art studio that we didn't go in.
Our room was great! It was a corner room, not sure if ours was the same as others. It was octagonal shaped and quite large. Loved the whole decor, modern/contemporary or whatever it is called. Comfy king bed. Soft yet firm. Flat screen TV with plenty of channels to choose from. Plenty of storage areas for clothes, in room electronic safe, ironing board - the typical. Nice bathroom, but smaller than I expected. Walk in shower with a hand wand or rain shower head (you choose which one you want to use). There is a mini bar in the room, but they only stock it if you request it.
Grounds were beautiful. Three pools. There is a large main pool with a swim up bar, a round adults only (sure) infinity pool, and another rectangular pool with another swim up bar. Water was cold, so I never went in. Neither did anyone else much. No one at any of the swim up bars or other bars either. Great drink service at the pools every few minutes.
Lots of loungy type furniture and beds. Some of the beds you had to reserve and pay for. Hubby wanted one, and the pool concierge asked for $40. It was already 1:30 in the afternoon. But we were only going to be around the pool until 3pm, so then he offered it for $30. We still declined. So he offered $20. Again, we just said no. Final offer was $20 and 2 waters. Hubby finally gave in, and have to say it was quite comfy and relaxing. But no sun, as it was covered. Tons of beds on the beach as well. Of course, they are all taken, and saved right away.
I did order my required pina colada while lounging at the pool. It was the mix kind, so very disappointing. You know, the perfumy kind. It was $10 + tip. Too much for me. Also splurged on a can of Diet Coke for $4 + tip. I don't mean to sound cheap, but it just kills me to pay that kind of money.
We never did eat at the hotel, and honestly not sure where the restuarants were or what theme they were. We had no literature in our room whatsoever. Same with the 24 hour room service. No menu. I'm sure our binder/info book was just missing, and we didn't use room service anyways. We liked to leave and eat off/go out at night.
Always some kind of techo/modern music playing at the pool and the lobby bar at night. Not sure what to call that kind of music, but all the songs sound the same. However, we weren't bothered by it, and actually prefered it to other music we've heard poolside.
Overall, very friendly staff, great property, awesome room.............we loved it. For anyone looking to go to a great EP hotel, this is recommended! Also what a great location! You are within a 5 min walk from Isla mall, 5 min from the Flamingo area, and about 1/2 hour walk from the Forum. Couldn't get much better!
I just have to add that after doing 2 EP hotels now in Cancun, we can definatley say we are AI people! There is a completely different "feel" to the AI resorts we've been to. They have a more "fun, relaxed, resort, on vacation" feel to them. People tend to be more lively and friendly/outgoing at the AI resorts. The EP's feel more like hotels to us. No mingling or party type atmosphere. On the other hand, we still leave the resort as much, and eat off a few times when staying at an AI. It's just our opinion - and again we loved the hotel! I also should mention that we really were only here for 2 full days, and certainly did not get to explore or utilize the resort like we would have. So I apologize for lack of more details and information.

What a great vacation! The hotel was amazing, beautiful and more. I went with some girlfriends on a girls only getaway, and we can't really say enough.
As for Canadians and having the all-inclusive plan, it was a benefit. But understandable for Americans, you might find it pricey. However we did notice that as Al travellers there were differences and inconsistency's. But really not a big deal when we paid a lot less then the others. A must is to try the "spring rolls" at the "Silk" restaurant. Delicious, we couldn't get enough. And the "flank steak" at the "Salt" was also impressive.
My advise for future travelers is to have a great time. And remember, you make your vacations what they are. Have fun and enjoy.

The BEST part of our vacation is we made many many friends whom are part of the hotel vacation club staff!!!!! They were always (on a daily basis) greeting us with a HELLO and a smile!
My husband and I just got back from the ME this week. We throughly enjoyed everything about it! I was deciding between several hotels and I decided to book the ME because I was there 16 years ago when it was the Meliá Turquesa and I wanted to see the change. Indeed it was a modern elegant change to say the least. It is defintiely the "HOLLYWOOD HOTEL" in Cancun. The place to be. The food presentation and taste was incredible. The spa treatments along with the spa facilities were great. I really liked the personal service that we received in the spa. We had our own personal assistant that would occassionally check in on us to see if we needed anything. I really enjoyed the spa pool which not only is inside the building but continues outside so you can relax and enjoy the ocean. The resort is large enough that there is plently of space so you do not feel crammed into one area. They have hammocks and cabanas which have mattress to relax on while taking in the rays.
The drinks were great! For those who like using the internet there is an INTERNET BAR!!! Everything about the place is contemporary, artistic and glamour. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of many shops and popular restaurants!
The BEST part of our vacation is we made many many friends whom are part of the hotel vacation club staff!!!!! They were always (on a daily basis) greeting us with a "HELLO" and a smile! Not to metion they were always interested in how our hotel stay was. Always wondering if we had any needs that they could fullfill... We give a great big "OLE" for a job well done to David, Shantal, Fernando, Alex, Alejandra, Sandra B.,Efrain, Oscar, as well as all those employees in white. We thank you for making our vacation a memorable one!

My husband and I just returned from six days in Cancun at the ME Cancun. It is a beautiful property! Very contemporary, great decor, great music, great atmosphere. The Grill restaurant on the Beach has a great lunch menu (also very reasonably priced). The pools and beach are breathtaking! There were two pool bars open, they are still working on the main one—it looks like it will be great when it's finished! The property wasn't terribly crowded while we were there, so there wasn't any hassle with having to get up early to reserve a spot for the day—we had our pick of spots on the beach or at the pool. Plenty of chairs and beds, plenty of shady spots. The rooms were beautiful, I know this is a silly thing to go on and on about, but I am a frequent business traveler and I always think you can tell a lot about the hotel by their in room bathrooms—and these were awesome! It made me want to start planning for a remodel of my own! I loved the rainfall showers and they had awesome towels, great lighting and good mirrors. I know a few people have made comments about the service, but we found everyone to be very friendly, helpful and accommodating.
I do have two things that I felt could have been improved. The exterior windows in our room were super dirty—I'm sure it's just a product of the remodeling, and that it will be remedied, and the second thing is the soundproofing. Since the halls are all marble tile, they echo something fierce and can be a little noisy when people come in after the clubs close.

Upon arrival we had a very quick checkin and were shown to a beautiful ocean view room. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and gave us a bracelete that proved we were with the Al plan.....it was never a problem.
My husband and I have just returned from the ME Cancun...and we were very impressed. Before leaving, we knew that there we some issue's with the hotel's reopening...and were assured thru
selloffvacation's
and
Airtransat
that all AL plans would be honoured as the hotel is swiching to the EP plan.
Upon arrival we had a very quick checkin and were shown to a beautiful oceanview room. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and gave us a bracelete that proved we were with the Al plan.....it was never a problem. Although they ask that you sign for everything you order, including water.....we had no extra charge's on our bill.
We asked for a coffee maker which was promtly delivered.
We kept an open mind...and knew that the hotel was still under renovation's and you could see new addition's every day.
We learned that the hotel was only filled at 19% capacity and we were treated like kings. We were waited on hand and foot.
All drink's are served in glass...at the pool and the beach.
Did I mention they have bali bed's on the beach...Ohhhh so romantic. They were putting up beautiful hammick's pool side the day we were leaving.
They couldn't do enough for you...they alway's had a smile and they wanted to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
There were some people who complained about everything, and we ignored them. Some people just don't want to be happy.
We loved the hotel...it was beautiful. We had no complaint's.
There is lots of construction in Cancun....on both side's of our hotel but we never noticed the noise...and found it really neat to watch. It's amazing. We were told it takes 6 to 9 months, 24 hours a day to rebuild a hotel start to finish...they work hard.
Alex who is the lifeguard was always keeping a watchful eye on everyone....the beach was red flagged everyday as the winds were very high and it was dangerous to swim in the ocean. It was incredible to watch. We walked the beach everyday and was amazed at the amount of destruction still left. It makes you realize just how lucky we are.
We loved the pools.......the main pool is huge, crystal clear and the infinity pool was beautiful.....flowing into the adult pool. We never had to worry about getting a spot at any of the pools and moved all over the place.
I think you have to go with an open mind on any holiday, how can you be unhappy in Mexico....its all what you make it...and your happiness is truly up to you.
We would love to go back to the same hotel again..but I'm sure it'll be way out of our price range...we got an awesome deal.
The hotel is within a 5 minute walk to the La Isla Mall....its a lovely stroll at night, lots of security around and we were never bothered like we have been on previous trips to Mexico, or the Dominican. You can take the local bus for 65 cents.....we went all over the place. They have a Walmart..and Flee market 28...and a Luxuary Mall about 10 minutes down the strip.....they have Louie Vuitton, Fendi, Coach...etc...just like a mall from home.
I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time....OLAAaaaaaaaaa

The pool was beautiful! I loved the fact that they had an adult pool and a kid pool! Service at the pool was good! I have a really good waitress who kept the Bloody Marys flowing! I stayed at the hotel over the Martin Luther King weekend in mid January. I stayed at the hotel over the Martin Luther King weekend in mid January. We had a great experience. The hotel is beautiful! My favorite part of the hotel was the lobby. Very elegant but not overdone. We had no problems checking in and the bell boy took our luggage to the room. The room was very spacious! We did not feel cramped at all. They give you a lot of closet space. My partner and I usually fight over closet space, not this time. Loved the shower! It's got a great shower head that makes the experience so relaxing! We had absolutely no problem with the air conditioner and any of our room service requests were done in a very reasonable amount of time. The pool was beautiful! My husband and I just returned from ME in Cancun. We are in our mid 30's and were looking for an higher end hotel. We decided on ME Cancun based on what we read in Trip Advisor. Everything was WONDERFUL from the time we got there until we left. The service was excellent. Some people stated the service was bad, which is hard for me to believe. The staff was ready to help us with anything we needed. The lobby, pool and rooms were beautiful. Great beach area! The location was fantastic. You are in walking distance of La Isla Mall and very close to all the bars, clubs and restaurants. If I had to say something negative , it would be the food/drinks were pricey. We were not all inclusive but did talk to a few couples who were and they seemed satisfied. You should definitely stay here. A great place for couples! We loved it and I am sure you will too!!!

The hotel grounds are just stunning, the best we saw after walking up and down the beach. The bali beds, the pools, all in pristine condition. So clean and inviting.
We stayed at the ME from Jan 17-24 and had a wonderful time. The hotel was only at 16% capacity when we checked in. The lobby area is just so gorgeous. This is exactly the type of place that we love to stay at. Very modern. The room was large, clean and beautiful, gorgeous bathrooms. The showers did take a while to warm up. We could hear some noise from the hallways but it didn't really bother us as we were up very early each morning anyways to get down to the beach. We had no problems with the air conditioning. They do only go to 70 but I found it downright chilly at that temp. and found myself turning it up everynight.
The hotel grounds are just stunning, the best we saw after walking up and down the beach. The bali beds, the pools, all in pristine condition. So clean and inviting. The poolside hammocks were so lovely to sit in together in the evenings. It was just such a romantic peaceful getaway. We loved every minute of it and I miss it terribly now that I'm back home. We found the beach wait staff to be wonderful. They seemed to be adding more staff by the day and there was always somebody coming by to ask if we needed anything. The food from the beach grill was so delicious.
We ate at both Salt & Silk Restaurant once as we also had a $100 food credit from the hotel (which they did deduct at the end of our stay with no hassle) We found the restaurants to be 'ok' They were practically empty and at both restaurants our food arrived a little on the coolish side. We complained about a dirty glass and had apologies coming from everyone for the rest of the evening and received our dessert free of charge.
We had a much better time eating at local restaurants around the area though.
There is construction on both sides of the property but I would say it was just a minor annoyance.
This definitely is not a party resort and that is exactly the reason why we loved it so much. It was so romantic, beautiful, and a completely relaxing vacation! We can't wait to go back.
